Homeostasis 3.4 Hannah Miller Introduction My investigation is about Homeostasis. Homeostasis is maintaining a physiological system in a higher animal to maintain co-ordinated responses. It tries to maintain the environmental changes, and a condition of balance or equilibrium within its internal environment.

Homeostasis works to maintain the organism's internal environment, where the body's processes are able to function at a level that would allow life to continue in that organism. The three systems which are controlled by homeostasis are the respiratory, cardiovascular, and muscular systems.

M2: Explain the probable homeostatic responses to changes in the internal environment during exercise. D2: Explain the importance of homeostasis in maintaining the healthy functioning of the body. Homeostasis is highly important as many processes going on in our body are based on this phenomenon.

Homeostasis by definition is the technical term for the process of maintaining a constant internal environment despite changes in the external environment. The internal environment comprises of blood, tissue fluid, body cell contents and all metabolic processes taking place inside the body.
